July 4th 2013 ~ Fireworks in Sparks, NV

Celebrate 4th of July at Victorian Square & The Sparks Marina!

The City of Sparks is ready to help you celebrate the 4th with a fantastic fireworks show and lots of fun activities for the entire family to enjoy. If you missed last year’s celebration you are in for a treat this year. Many say the Star Spangled Sparks fireworks show is the best they have ever seen. Star Spangled Sparks kicks off at 6am at the Sparks Marina tomorrow! The fun continues at Victorian Square for the area’s longest fireworks display.

4th of July

With the popularity of this celebration you should plan ahead to arrive early and know where to park in advance. Here are some important road closures to be aware of:

•Victorian Avenue will close between Pyramid Way and 14th Street at 8 p.m.
•C Street westbound from Pyramid will be closed by 6 p.m. and 10th and 11th Streets between C Street and Victorian Avenue will also close by 6 p.m.
•Once the Nugget’s parking garage and the two City parking garages (C Street & 10th Street, and next to the Cinema) are full, there will be no vehicular access to those garages.
•Eastbound Prater Way from 15th Street will close after the firework show for approximately 30 minutes.

4th of July

Once you arrive there will be plenty of great things to do. Be sure you bring your blankets, ice chests and chairs so you can save your place for watching the fireworks show. Below is a schedule of events to help you plan your day:
Kids’ Area
Here you will find face painters, clowns and magicians roaming the square, as well as an array of rides and activities. The kids’ area will be located on Victorian Plaza, adjacent to Century Theatres, and will include games, a super slide and mechanical rides. Ride tickets will be available for purchase just outside the Kids’ Area.

KKOH Simulcast ~ This is a must listen station while fireworks are going off:
The fireworks show will be broadcast live with music over KKOH News Talk 780. Tune in to hear music corresponding with the fireworks.

Live music from the main stage (located toward the West End of Victorian Avenue) will keep the crowd dancing into the evening. The Buddy Emmer Band will be providing live entertainment from 5:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. Nick Sorrentino will be singing the National Anthem prior to the start of the fireworks show. The fireworks are scheduled to go off at 9:45 p.m., depending on the weather.

Contest runs from 5:00 p.m. on July 3rd through 5:00 p.m. on July 7th. One winner will receive dinner for two at The Steakhouse Grill, and a one-night stay at John Ascuaga’s Nugget in a Luxury East Tower Room!
